This is soooo bloggable.*

I went into Ta*rg*et today and I didn't buy anything.

It's crazy, I know.

Never happened before.

Wow.

I went in with the express purpose of buying a very cheap wading pool for the girls. You know the kind... Hard plastic... about 4 foot in diameter...CHEAP. I was expecting to pay less than ten dollars.

As I walked in, a very nice employee asked if she could help me. I told her I was looking for a kiddie wading pool. She directed me to sporting goods. She said, "There are lots of blow-up ones there." I stopped and said, "But do you have any of the hard-plastic kind?" She said, "I don't know."

I had a limited amount of time because I had to pick up the girls and N3nny. I walked as quickly as I could to sporting goods. I assessed. Nothing but blow-up ones. Cheapest one started at $19.78. I debated. Time was ticking. I knew the toy store with the backwards R had the kind I wanted. I knew they were less than $10. Time was ticking.

I made an executive decision to leave without the very cool-looking, brand-new, foldable, pop-up wading pool. (Great for Travel!) It was hard to NOT buy it. Do you ever find that Ta*rg*et has things packaged and displayed in ways that are so irresistible it's hard walk away and not purchase things you don't need or want? I do.

When I buy cheap wading pools, which I've done 3 or 4 summers now, I always debate the decision. Even though it seems like a good idea to buy a more expensive one, one that will last multiple seasons, it never is (for us) because we never use them multiple seasons. If we use it more than 8 times this year, I'll be shocked. I ran to the toy store with the backwards R and got a hard plastic wading pool AND little dump trucks to play with in it for $8.29.

As it was, I'm happy that we had the wading pool TODAY (it was 99 this afternoon) and it was totally worth my 8.29 investment. Totally.

However, it is still odd to me that I made it out of Ta*rg*et without purchasing anything.

I almost didn't make it out sans new stuff when I saw the shark and pirate beach towels, but I consoled myself with the thought of buying them NEXT time I go.

Have you ever made it out of Ta*rg*et without making a purchase?

(Bonus, the cheap wading pool is marked with a recycle symbol so we can recycle it! Woo-hoo!)

I get sucked into their marketing too... but I like their clothes for the kids... they are affordable and (mostly) cute!

VERY rarely... the $9.99 DVDs get me almost every time. I think last time I got a Flashdance/Footloose double feature. Heh.
