If you have any time...

I hardly ever shut up around here... Sorry about that... Because it's busy right now, I'd love to hear from you about something...

Age...

1. What makes you feel young?
2. What makes you feel old?
3. In general, do you feel young or old?
4. At what age do you think you'll feel old?
5. How old are you?

Yea, yea, I know you're not supposed to ask a woman her age ... You can post a comment anonymously. If you don't like my questions, feel free to tell me something about how you think about birthdays and getting older!

I've got a birthday coming up soon, and I'm thinking about "age" and how I feel. I'd love to hear how more people feel about age.

1) My husband. :-) He's 5.5 years older than me so that helps.
2) My kids. They make me very tired. And my friends from college who still don't have any kids. Or seeing friends have Baby #1 when I'm on Baby #4.
3) I still feel young. Just more tired.
4) Not sure. Though I'm not that excited about turning 30 in the Spring. Leaving my 20s behind seems scary to me. It's been an exciting decade.
5) I gave that away in #4. :-)

If it helps any, you seem to have boundless energy and so you seem younger to me than your age. You still like to bounce. I just like to sleep. :-)

1. The fact that I still get carded sometimes. I love that.
2. After my boyfriend and I have his five year old son for the weekend. It wears me out. I feel like a wuss because I get so tired running after him and taking care of him all weekend.
3. I know in my head that I am still young, but sometimes I feel like everything in my life that I do and around me makes me feel old. Does that even make sense?
4. I don't know. I will be turning 30 this summer and that sort of freaks me out. It will be weird to not be in my 20's anymore and still not have gotten married yet or had kids. Even though I have accomplished a lot in my career.
5. Will be 30 in the summer of '08

...You're not supposed to shut up - it's your blog!

Age is an interesting topic to me too. Ever since I can remember I have sort of felt ageless - in the sense that no ages have ever seemed to really fit me. I've always been both young and old at heart.

1. The fact that I live alone with my boyfriend makes me feel old - but our lifestyle is still pretty young (we stay up late, sleep in late, we don't very often make actual meals, but we eat when we're hungry, things like that... i guess just the general unstructuredness of our lives).

2. Actually - the other year my dad had some serious heart problems and that made me feel old. In a bad way.

3. Generally I feel both simultaneously.

4. I doubt that I will ever feel just old.

5. I just turned 23 on Dec. 2!

Thanks for the questions!

1. Doing goofy stuff with my kids, getting carded, observing elderly people out and about
2. When kids I used to baby-sit or nanny for hit certain milestones like driver's licenses and high school graduations!
3. I'd say young! It's funny you ask about this now because the girls have been talking about young versus old and are they young, etc. I try to explain to them that even though I'm not as young as they are, I'm certainly not OLD!
4. Hmmmm...probably in the 60s? Not even sure if I will then because my parents are in their 60s and I really don't see them as old
5. 35...'and still young, dude' (can you name the movie?)

I can't believe I forgot to answer these. Sorry! (Thanks for the reminder in the previous post)

1. What makes you feel young?

My kids

2. What makes you feel old?

My kids (ha!)

3. In general, do you feel young or old?

I feel very young. I often feel younger (in spirit) than people the same age or even younger than I. I wonder when or if that will end?

4. At what age do you think you'll feel old?

I truly don't know. I don't plan on ever feeling old so we'll see.

5. How old are you?

33

(great number, no?)

Just wanted to let you know that I love your blog...

1. Being silly with my husband and with my friends. Sleeping in, exercising, going dancing.
2. When I feel aches and pains, sometimes in my back or knees. Luckily this isn't frequent. Maybe more so, sometimes I feel like I'm not thinking as quickly as I used too. I also have less ambition. But I value spending time with friends and family more. I'll give up ambition for that :)
3. Generally, I'd say I feel young.
4. My dad is 83 and he's still quite spry. My mom is 81 and having some trouble walking. I imagine in my 80's I'll start feeling old. I'm motivated to do whatever it takes to be spry into my 90s, if possible. Exercise, eating right, strength training, good sleep... taking classes, volunteering, seeing friends... drinking more red wine :D
5. I'm 43.5

p.s. I'm halfway through the new book You: Staying Young; bought it just yesterday at Costco. It's pretty good. Happy to lend it to you if you want it.
